This “follow-up” CT scan was done 3 or 4 weeks earlier than usual. Typically,
it's done every 3 months during treatment to check the cancer's progression and
the treatment's effectiveness.
They moved it forward because, initially, the cancerous masses in the muscles
of the back and left arm were not detected.
In other words, by bringing it forward, it’s possible that any potential
improvement wasn’t fully visible yet.
However, the report is not positive at all.
Here is the summary of the report:
CHEST
Lungs: stable metastasis in the left upper lobe involving the upper lobar
artery. Stable metastasis in the lingula.
Thoracic wall and rib cage: appearance of metastasis in the left
intercostal muscles not present in the previous study. (This is the mass in
the back that caused me so much pain a few weeks ago and had to be
radiated.)
ABDOMEN-PELVIS
Large intestine (sigmoid): Locally advanced sigmoid neoplasia with
infiltration of adjacent ileal loops, treated with a stent. Organized
perisigmoid collection without evidence of extraluminal gas bubbles in this
study.
Small intestine (new): Distension of jejunal and ileal loops with abrupt
caliber change at the pelvic ileum, where a hyperenhancing mural thickening
is observed, suspicious for carcinomatosis on the visceral peritoneum.
Peritoneum (new): Peritoneal carcinomatosis with a 14 mm implant in the
right hemipelvis and in the pelvic peritoneal recess.
OTHER
Muscles (new): Appearance of muscular implant in the left psoas. Muscular
implants in the right rectus femoris and left gluteus.
No significant volume increase in the left adrenal metastasis.
Liver: metastases affecting all hepatic segments with stability in the
larger metastases and non-significant increase in the smaller ones, which
remain well-defined and cystic in appearance.
In summary, there is no improvement in any of the previously known locations,
and a new lesion has appeared in the small intestine that also seems to be
potentially obstructed.
